Tips How to prepare your home for cleaning and other "clean home" tipsTips from our customersAugust 30, 2004 -- Customers often ask "How can we prepare our home for cleaning?" Here are some ideas from our customers that you might find helpful in optimizing the time your team spends doing your regular cleaning. We hope some of these comments are interesting and useful to you. Thank you for choosing Maids-in-Waiting for your cleaning needs. "We pick up all loose clothing, newspapers and clutter so that Maids-in-Waiting can do the more difficult cleaning tasks." "I always leave a written priority list. That way I can have them damp mop the hardwoods once a month just by removing some other chore from the list." Note - most hardwoods only need damp mopping when they are soiled and should not need to be mopped every cleaning. Dust mopping should be sufficient between damp mopping. "I leave out tinfoil as I like the team to reline my stove burner drip pans." "When I want my porch swept, I leave out my broom." "We wipe down our shower with a wash cloth after showering. It eliminates mildew that has given us a problem in the past and lets the team spend the time saved on additional tasks." Remember to throw away empty shampoo and cosmetics as the team does not know what you want saved. "For jobs that require a long reach or a tall person - I put out a short step ladder." "We put our dog in a room that's not going to be cleaned. She is so friendly that she gets in the team's way." "I put all my cosmetics in a basket on my bathroom counter. Then the team only has to move the basket to clean the area, not each bottle." "I put a small tray under our cat's dish. It catches the spills." "I prespray the shower the morning of my cleaning. It seems to speed up the cleaning process as we have hard water." Note: If you do this, please leave a note telling the team what you have used so that no accidental mixing occurs. "When I write my priority list I group rooms that are close together. It saves time because the team can do the work in one area of our two-story home before moving the equipment to the other areas.
